“Hidden Meaning" was a career-defining painting for Ford, leaving the viewer transfixed by it's depth, vitality and imagination.
Each descending treeline emotes it's own, private identity before exposing the next. This is the first painting where Ford conceived the sensuous vines that climb the intricately iluminated tree trunks, softening their vertical rise. From the blazing glory of mosaic boughs crowning the top of the painting, to the incandescent light emanating through the cluster of green trees at the bottom, Ford's mastery is revealed from every view.
The sunlit, dappled meadow bridges the distance between near and far... as if to protray that while promise of tomorrow is well within sight, today is meant to be lived with joy.
