Ford makes a wild departure in the most literal sense with his first flamingo-themed painting, inspired by a longtime, Florida-loving collector. Ford was surprised and happy to discover these whimsical, enchanting birds—with surprisingly studied expressions—were both fun and a challenge to create. In this new original painting, he envisioned a tropical scene with trademark Ford Smith natural elements. His commanding flamingo stars in every shade of feathered pink, with the ethereal, billowing clouds above borrowing from the palette beneath. Rarely alone, other flamingos pose quietly in the distance, their reflections abstracted in gentle waters.
