Epic Installation - Ford Smith Fine Art

Epic Installation

Epic Installation

It’s a very special day for the artist, gallery and collectors when a large-scale Ford Smith original painting (6ft x 7ft on solid wood) as beautiful as “Prismatic Dusk” is installed.  Weighing more than 150 lbs, the job called for the fine art installation professionals at Axis, who made it seem easy (with a little direction from the artist himself shown on the center ladder).

It took our breath away as it presided on high and so radiantly visible from many angles in the Mahaffey’s gorgeous home. We are so lucky to be in this business where you discover people you love so much AND they have such an intense connection to the work. We’ve been friends with Elizabeth and John since their first acquisition about 7 years ago. “Prismatic Dusk” is their 5th painting—and clearly the most epic!  Install, lunch and a movie in the home theater who’s upper lobby overlooks the new original. We made a happy art day of it!

Ford Smith takes it personally...

“If I ever go looking for my heart’s desire again, I won’t look any further than my own back yard...”
There’s no place like home for inspiration on Ford Smith’s magnificent new painting. For the first time ever, he’s interpreting his beloved lakeside view. He doesn’t need to look for reference because every square inch is etched in his mind as he paints the scene behind him in his outdoor studio. Still in progress, but this is already becoming a personally significant masterpiece measuring 48"x48".
