Art Helps... Daily Public Exhibit

While world-famous artist and Roswell, Georgia resident, Ford Smith, was watching the increasing number of families walking by his lakeside home during the era of social isolation and shut-downs, he had an idea.
Since every fine art gallery and museum closed, Ford guessed that neighbors and friends might appreciate a daily art escape as they passed his by his home on the lake. Residents of the East Spring Lake community are very aware of their local “famous artist”, but many had rarely or never seen the paintings in person.
So wife Cristi set to work and created a “Daily Art Escape” public exhibit by Ford Smith in the middle of their driveway that features a Ford Smith painting on an easel with an introduction letter to neighbors--along with asking to respect social distancing protocols.
There will be a new painting on display every day (weather permitting) for people strolling by. The art description shows the title, medium and a couple of paragraphs about the day’s painting, along with “Points to Ponder” with questions that help connect the viewer to the art and they provide great learning opportunities for home schooled children. With relaxing music playing from a hidden speaker, it’s an artistic oasis for everyone of all ages to enjoy.
The response and gratitude from the community has been overwhelming and it grows by the hour. “It’s what Ford and I can do to bring our community inspiration and happiness during this challenging time,” Cristi says, “We all have something to offer. This is ours.”
Each day a picture is posted of Ford with the new Daily Art Escape painting on social media platforms:

Art Helps, Day 2: More than ever, people need the soul-soothing power of art in their lives. So while museums and galleries are closed, Ford and I thought our neighborhood families would enjoy their own daily public exhibit as they walk around the lake. A new painting (with art description) will be introduced every day, weather permitting. We hope you enjoy!
Children are welcome, and it’s a great art lesson for home-schooling.
Be well, everyone!
