Lunar Reactions 48x24

This is an intriguing and powerful painting Ford created in 2011 for the "Ocean's Eleven" show which was comprised solely of oceanic scenes. This period of intense focus on the sea helped him push the boundaries of what he might have thought possible with the subject. 

"Lunar Reactions" is one of the most memorable paintings from this show, with it's roiling arc of layered color and intensity. There is so much to absorb (be sure to view it enlarged). The incandescent moon flirts with photorealistic surrealism while the dreamy, fluid troughs and vibrant, frothy sprays are Ford Smith expressionist details that are signature Ford Smith elements.
